Information We Collect
We collect information to operate, improve, and secure Conversly (the “App”). The types of data we collect depend on how you use the App and the choices you make in Settings.
Account & Profile Data. Name, username/handle, email address, password (hashed), profile photo, language/locale, and preferences. If you sign in with Apple/Google, we receive basic account info from that provider.
Voice & Interaction Data. With your permission, we process microphone input, session audio, speech-to-text transcripts, pronunciation features (e.g., pacing, pauses, emphasis), and scenario responses (text or voice). You can delete session history in the App.
Learning & Performance Data. Scenario selections, scores, badges, progress timelines, and feedback notes generated by our AI coach.
Device & Usage Data. Device model, OS version, app version, time zone, crash logs, diagnostics, and in‑app interactions (e.g., screens viewed, feature use). If you enable location, we may use approximate location (country/city) for content and language tuning. You can disable location at any time.
Content You Provide. Custom scenarios, prompts, notes, and any media you upload (e.g., avatar image). If you optionally import contacts to invite friends, we process those contacts solely to send invitations.
Payment Data. Purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive transaction metadata (e.g., receipt IDs, product tier) but do not store full payment card numbers.
Cookies/SDKs & Similar Technologies. We use mobile SDKs and similar technologies (e.g., analytics, performance, crash reporting) to understand usage, improve reliability, and personalize features. You can control analytics preferences in Settings and your device OS.
Third‑Party Sources. We may receive limited data from partners (e.g., enterprise administrators) to provision accounts.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
* Provide and maintain the App. Deliver adaptive coaching sessions, speech processing, feedback, leaderboards, and personalization.
* Personalize learning. Tailor scenarios, difficulty, and feedback to your goals and history.
* Research & development. Improve models, accuracy, and new features; measure performance and safety.
* Safety, security, and integrity. Detect abuse, prevent fraud, and protect the App and users.
* Communications. Send service messages (e.g., receipts, changes), and—with your consent—product tips or surveys. You can opt out of non‑essential communications.
* Legal compliance. Comply with applicable laws and enforce our terms.
AI processing. We use third‑party AI and speech vendors (e.g., ASR/TTS/LLM providers) to process audio and text to deliver coaching. We require these vendors to protect your data and only use it to provide services to us. We do not allow vendors to use your data to train their models without your explicit consent.
Data Security
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below:
* Service providers & vendors. Cloud hosting, speech‑to‑text, text‑to‑speech, LLM inference, analytics, crash reporting, customer support, and email delivery. They may access data only to perform services for us and must protect it.
* Payments & app stores. Apple and Google process purchases and may receive data necessary to complete transactions.
* Enterprise/education customers. If you use Conversly through an organization, certain account and usage data may be shared with your administrator per our agreement.
* Legal, safety, and rights. To comply with law, respond to valid legal requests, or protect users, our company, or the public.
* Business transfers. In a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, we may transfer data subject to this Policy’s protections.
We do not share your personal information for cross‑context behavioral advertising.
Third-Party Disclosure
We retain personal data for as long as needed to provide the App and for legitimate business or legal purposes. Examples:
* Account & profile. Kept while the account is active.
* Session audio & transcripts. Kept while your account is active unless you delete them in the App. You can delete individual sessions or your entire history.
* Inactive accounts. If an account remains inactive for 12 months, we may delete or anonymize personal data.
If you opt in to allow us to use your content to improve models, we may retain derived, de‑identified artifacts even after deletion, but never in a way that identifies you. You can change this opt‑in at any time in Settings.
Data/Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls, audit logging, and least‑privilege practices. No method is 100% secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and using strong passwords.
Rights/Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
* Access/Portability. Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
* Correction. Update or correct inaccurate information.
* Deletion. Delete sessions or your account in Settings → Privacy → Delete account, or contact us.
* Consent & preferences. Manage analytics and model‑improvement consent, microphone and notification permissions, and marketing preferences in Settings.
* Objection/Restriction. Where applicable by law, object to or restrict certain processing.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. We may need to verify your request and identity.
Children’s Privacy
Conversly is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you are in the EEA/UK, you must be at least 16 (or the age of digital consent in your country). If we learn we’ve collected data from a child, we will delete it.
International Data Transfers
We operate in the United States and may transfer, store, and process your information there and in other countries where we or our service providers operate. When transferring personal data from the EEA/UK/Switzerland, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and supplementary measures where necessary.
Compliance with Privacy Laws
* GDPR/UK GDPR. You may have additional rights, including to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
* CCPA/CPRA (California). California residents can request access, correction, deletion, opt out of “sale”/“sharing” (we do not sell or share personal information as defined by CPRA), and limit the use of sensitive personal information. Use in‑app controls or contact us.
Third‑Party Links & Integrations
The App may link to third‑party websites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. Review those policies before using their services.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy periodically. We will post changes in‑app and update the “Effective date.” For material changes, we will provide additional notice (e.g., email or prominent in‑app notice). Please review regularly.
